crochet projects

i wanted to make some special gifts for my family for christmas, and these kits seemed like the perfect solution! these were all made using woobles kits, and they were excellent for a beginner like me who's been wanting to learn for awhile :D i would highly recommend the kits for anyone looking to learn crochet. just make sure you have fun with it first and foremost!

this was my first crochet project beyond the woobles, and i think it turned out great! frosty is one of three dogs that my family owns and is the favorite of my mom, so i thought she would appreciate a mini-frosty for her birthday. frosty's usually a little (big) troublemaker, but luckily the crochet version didn't cause me quite as many problems as the real one ;)

a large version of a luma pattern i found on etsy. super mario galaxy is one of my all time favorite games, and i've always been fond of lumas, so it just made sense that i should crochet a luma once i had the skills to!

funny story about this one... i misunderstood the instructions in the crochetta kit that makes these the first time through, so the baby octopus was sort of a happy little accident :p (and i am NOT mama!!!! the big octopus is) but about halfway through, i realized my mistake and luckily had enough yarn to finish BOTH! i like them better together anyways :D

nemo, dory, and bubbles are taking a ride with mr. ray! this project took a long time to finish, both from inactivity and from waiting for yarn to be shipped, but i'm very happy with the results. initially i had no plans for the finished products, but i ended up giving them to my brother for his birthday and he loved them (i think)! the ray even comes with a little pocket to hold the fish ^u^ and the pattern pack has even more of nemo's friends that are yet to be made!

despite its cute appearance, this little creature is a nightmare for any seasoned ffxiv raiders (especially off tank players)! after a friend spent a long time looking at yans in game, they requested for me to crochet one, and i couldn't help but oblige. i even learned how to crochet my own eyes as part of this project! i used a nice plushy yarn, so this yan is much more soft and snuggleable than the one in game C:

after a little project downtime, i wanted to follow the same luma pattern as above, but with the added skills and practices i had built up from my other projects. suffice it to say, i'm much happier with how this one turned out compared to the first one :3 the shape is rounder, the arms are further back on the body, and i'm especially proud of how the eyes turned out :D i think this separately crocheted, then sewed on style looks much better than the embroidered eyes for a luma of this size, and the custom pupils were a spur of the moment thing that i thought turned out lovely c:
